Program Focus Areas
Home Living: Includes skills required to manage a home, choosing a place to live, financial planning, meal planning, housekeeping and home safety. Students do have access to kitchen and laundry facilities and equipment.
Community Participation: Is the development of skills that allow for formal or informal participation in social, civic, spiritual and emotional relationships. Students participate the community to learn skills surrounding being an active and engaged citizen.
Recreation & Leisure: Is the development of skills that allow an individual to engage in personal and social activities that are for fun and relation. Students have opportunities to explore local Parks and Trails, utilize school physical education facilities/equipment and engage in other local businesses that offer these types of activities.
Post Secondary Training: Is the development of a personal plan to prepare an individual for his/her continuing education needs upon graduation from the Pine County Transition Program.
Jobs/Jobs Training: Is a central focus of the PCTP to ensure students have the opportunity to learn and practice employment skills. The program offers:
●Independent hands-on-training in the PAES (Practical Assessment Exploration System) Lab.
●Job sites to learn and practice employment skills-on-the-job at local businesses.
●Job shadowing opportunities for students to practice both on site and in the community.
●Build customer service, basic business management, food service skills through on-campus beverage cart offered to faculty/staff.
